Tech Tip

If you use the 1 Shopping Cart affiliate program you can have a separate link for each affiliate product however there is only one default affiliate link. That means that you have to tell your affiliates to log in to get the links for each separate product.

However, if you are doing a campaign for one particular product
at the moment, you can set the default link to that product specifically and then when that campaign is over you can move it to another product. If you have any trouble understanding this all you have to do is call technical support and ask for help. They will be happy to answer all your questions.

"We grow because we struggle, we learn and overcome."

- Robert Allen

It’s been a crazy month in California! We’ve been having record heat. And wouldn’t you know it-the house we bought to flip is in the hottest area of the southland (And I do mean temperature wise). In fact, it’s gotten up to 119 degrees in our little area of Woodland Hills. It broke the record-20 straight days of temperatures over 100 degrees!

Needless to say, we haven’t had too many takers. It's like when gas gets expensive, people stop buying SUV’s and then when gas gets cheaper they go right back to buying them. People will forget and they will start buying again in Woodland Hills.

You see human nature never changes! But right now it’s not what people want and you can only sell something if people want it (which ties into to this month’s article below).

In the meantime, we’re selling our condo and moving into the house! It’s a beautiful house-just a little far out from town. Come to think of it, I've been doing my affirmations telling the universe I wanted a house-and it’s a lovely house, but this wasn’t what I had in mind!

I guess I wasn’t specific enough! Well, that’s what I’m doing on my summer vacation-then I'm off to the beach for a little r & r before my Quick-Start 3-Day eBook Authoring Workshops starts up after Labor Day, I hope you’re having fun!

How To Guarantee Your eBook-Writing Success Before You Write A Single Word!

One of the most important decisions you’ll make before sitting down to write your ebook is choosing the right topic.

That may seem so easy; you wonder why I’m even bothering to address it.

The reason is simple: many people make the wrong choice. They get excited about an idea without doing the research and they just charge full-ahead in the wrong direction. Doing this puts the whole project in jeopardy and the chances of being successful are greatly reduced.

So what works? Combining your passion, your skill set (what you’re good at) and finding a target market that wants what you have to offer.

Many people create businesses out of their talents or what they love and have moderate success. But if you can take what you enjoy, what you excel at and have people already interested in your expertise, you’re more apt to meet your goals.

Harnessing Your Passion and Skill Set

First, you have to pinpoint what you’re passionate about...

Q & A

I will no longer be doing ebook reviews in the newsletter. I am now doing “Live eBook Makeovers” instead in the eBook Writer’s Club. To join the club or for more information go to www.ebookwritersclub.com. (It’s just $1 to get started!)

---

Q: How long should an ebook be?

A: In theory it should be as long as it takes to convey the information you want to convey.

But the general rule of thumb is that 80-120 pages is optimum and 80-144 pages is acceptable. Remember most people print out their ebooks to read them and it costs more money in paper and ink the longer the ebook. So always keep that in mind.

---

Q: Do you need to copyright your ebook?

A: Your ebook is protected as soon as you write it. However, it is still important to put the copyright sign on your document with the date to show that it is original and when it was completed.

I don’t give legal advice but I suggest people fill out the copyright form, pay the $30 and record their original works with the Copyright Office in case you ever need to PROVE that it is an original work and when it was created.

For a “poor man’s” copyright, you can put your manuscript in a manila envelope and send it to yourself. As long as you don’t open it, the postmark serves as your proof for date of purchase. But I’d still fill out the form and send it to the copyright office as soon as you can afford to do so. For more information, please consult an attorney.

---

Q: How much can one realistically make with an ebook?

A: This is a difficult question to answer because it depends on your passion, your skill set and how you marry them to a subject that your target market can’t wait to buy; You also want to make sure that your target market has money and is willing to pay for the information.

I have seen ebooks bring in $250,000 to $500,000 and I have seen equally-well-written ebooks make just a handful of sales.

(Some ebooks won’t make a dime if you try to sell them, but if you give them away you might make good money on the back-end (usually through affiliate links)

Other ebooks should be given away for free to build your credibility and visibility. And sometimes, it makes more sense to give an ebook away until you build your expert status and THEN you can sell it.)

Whether your ebook is going to sell or not is not really something I can tell you in two sentences-it’s a process. So, the way to find out how much your ebook can realistically make is to enroll in The Quick-Start 3-Day eBook Authoring Workshop.

Once you know the system you can use it every time you write an ebook to insure that it will be success BEFORE you write a single word. For more information or to sign up go to: www.quickstart3day.com
