Two weeks ago my husband, Christen Violette, and I went to the Big Seminar and it was an amazing experience. I had a major shift in consciousness and met some great people AND I got the opportunity to write an e-book with Jim Edwards which is a dream come true. Then last week we had dinner with a friend of ours, Gary Turner, a real estate investor, turned Intrepreneur (www.garywturner.com), who we originally met at the mega speaking conference with Mark Victor Hansen. Gary lives in Georgia so we don’t get to hang out much but he was in town on a short business trip and we got together for dinner which turned into a four-hour marathon.

During dinner Gary said that he had the resale rights to a teleseminar, a little gem on time management, from Alex Mandossian. And Christen, who’s trained as a clinical hypnotherapist, had done an Ask Campaign to his list on stress, and found out that one of the top three stressors is not having enough time! So Christen and Gary are now planning to joint venture on this download! Now I don’t know about you, but I love making money and doing joint ventures with people I like! So I’m very excited for them.

It also reminded me how valuable it is to show up and network on line and off line and talk to people. Don’t just get business cards— really get to know people—especially people you already "know" and like because you never know what they know, who they know, or what joint venture you might come up with that will put money in both of your pockets! So network, network, network! And, take time to enjoy your friends!

Joy & Success,

Playing to Win, Not Playing Not To Lose
(How Craps Taught Me How To Win In Business)

I had a major shift in consciousness during my 4 days at the Women’s Power Summit and The Big Seminar that I want to share with you. The theme of the Women’s Power Summit was Play to Win instead of Playing Not to Lose and how women tend to be more timid than men in going after what they want. They also network differently; men joint venture, women connect. And, women are more supportive which is a great thing on the Internet because you need other people to succeed in this business. But we’ve got to be in touch with out power and really know how to use it! There were some powerful women speakers who showed us how it’s done and they were awesome! As I listened to speaker after speaker I was thinking about how this applied to me. I knew it did, I just wasn’t sure how...

The E-book Nook Review

“Etiquette To Get Read ”
Power tips to make your writing more effective
By Dear Webby

People do judge an e-book by its cover and its title, and in this case both are lacking. Etiquette To Get Read (Power Tips to Make Your Writing More Effective) by Dear Webby is awkward and messy looking! Not only that but the e-book itself is unfocused and confusing (although it does have some good information). I thought it was going to be a book about writing etiquette but it was really about both writing etiquette and the technical aspects of writing on the web: it needs a title that reflects this. Not only that but it should mentioned that the author is talking about being online in the title as well. The confusion shows that the author hasn’t taken the time to figure out what his niche market really is and who is his target market. Nor has he taken the time to appeal to them directly. Not only that but there is no e-book cover which it needs to convey his expertise and to make people comfortable purchasing his e-book.

There is a wealth of information here that could be focused a bit more and packaged differently to appeal to different target markets. The author just needs to take a step back and regroup. It is clear that the author has some sophisticated knowledge about computers and doing business on the Internet as I said. But at times, the author throws out tidbits that are definitely not for the beginner without explaining them. And, at other times, his approach to some of the subjects is rather simplistic including finding titles for an e-book (they should be descriptive, promising and memorable) I’m not sure what promising means in this context! However, he does have an original approach (sing them in the shower). He should probably stick to the subjects he knows best. At the same time, he uses language that may not appeal to his market. The author really needs to get clear on who his market is and speak to them in their language.

Since the e-book does have an air of sophistication at times, the author needs to consider that when deciding on look, feel, and language because those people are not going to be inclined to buy his e-book in its present form. The e-book started with the table of contents. And, the table of contents was messy and used color inappropriately. Not only that, but it was laid out like an outline instead of a table of contents, and the chapter headings were highlighted in green which made them very hard to read- plus a couple of them ran together. The author would be better off using less color, as well as distinctive fonts and different font sizes to delineate sections and subsections. In addition there were many grammatical errors and the e-book needs to be proof read for both grammar and spelling. The author also included his picture on this page instead of on the “About the Author” page which would have been better.

In summary, the author has a very good start but needs to think about whom his market is and how to appeal to them. He may want to do more than one version of the e-book to appeal to different markets. He needs to make his language and the look and feel of the e-book congruent for each market that he wants to target. He should have his e-books proofed and he needs to get a professional looking e-books cover made. It would also be a good idea to let his audience know what his background is and why he is qualified to write this e-book on a separate page as well so it’s easy to find and doesn’t run into the other material. I give this e-book in its present form two stars **.
