Happy Anniversary!

Today is the day that Christen and I fell in love 24 years ago! 

We’d been friends for about a year and then one day it just happened and we’ve been together ever since.  When we got together, he went to recording-engineering school and ran our recording studio which we built in my parent’s home while I wrote and produced the songs.

Then after my parents died we started buying, fixing and selling houses. I’d do the design and he’d oversee the construction. Then when we got online my business took off so he took over the technical side.

We’ve always been a good team.  But it hasn’t always been easy. We’ve had set backs both personally and like any small business starting out, we had business issues. We took on a lot of debt starting out,  which is why my programs are designed to get you making money as quickly as possible - so you don’t do what we did!

And then there’s the famous shopping-cart incident you may or may not know (I wrote articles for a whole year growing my list and then found out that the double opt in wasn’t working and over 6,000 people who opted in never finished the process.  My business came to a grinding halt for 4 months and the business almost went under). That was a lot of fun.

I had colleagues tell me that they were amazed I hung in, because they knew others who had just given up when they met with such adversity. But having Christen there by my side has been a great source of strength when all else failed me.

The truth is that almost a decade ago, he literally saved my life.  I was sick and Western medicine didn't know what to do with me.  he got online and found the answers I needed.  I had come down with environmental illness - probably from living in the houses as we were fixing them.  There is no cure for it, but it can be controlled. But without him, I never would have become The eBook Coach - I wouldn't have survived.

So today I want to thank him and tell him how much I love and appreciate him and all he does for me so that I can do what I do for you.  Happy Anniversary Sweetie!

eBook Writing: Do the Research for Maximum Profit and Minimum Work!

Why guess when you can do the research and KNOW before you write a single word that people will be waiting to buy your ebook?

There are 5 basic elements to doing ebook research:

1. First you have to figure out what you are passionate about and what skills you have. Because you won’t stick with it if you aren’t passionate about what you are doing, and you won’t be any good at it if you don’t have the skills to pull it off.
   
   
2. Next, find a target market that has a problem you can solve following your passion and using your skills. To do this, you have to know where to find your market and then you have to listen to their problems and concerns. 
   
   It also helps if you have an affinity for them (which means that you understand them) so it’s easy to connect with them. Because people buy from people they know, like and trust.

So it’s best if you are a member of your target market, or you work closely with someone who is, or you’ve been working with this market for so long that you “get” it!

3. Next, you want to delve deeper and make sure that your target market has money to spend and that they can’t wait to spend it on what you are going to be offering. Otherwise you won’t make any money! 

For example, a bad target market for Internet Marketing Services: Songwriters. When I got online, I tried to sell marketing to songwriters since I knew they needed them. (I wanted to save them!) But I found that while songwriters are passionate about what they do and would spend their last dollar making a demo or buying music equipment, they weren’t interested in marketing no matter how much they needed it, so it was never going to work!

A good target market for Internet Marketing Services: Coaches, Independent Professionals, Entrepreneurs. They are passionate about their businesses and KNOW that marketing is how they will get clients so they are willing to spend the money and learn what they need to know to be successful.

4. Look at the competition. See what they offer and what you can do better or different that will make you stand out in the marketplace and make people come to you over anyone else.  Figure out why they should come to you now, because urgency is important. You have to get them to take action while they are excited and motivated.
   
   
5. Find out what words people are clicking on. This is very important because these are the words you want to use in your headlines, sales pages and search description for your website (Meta tags) so people can find you.  You can do a keyword search at www.freekeywords.wordtracker.com. Wordtracker is better but there is a fee for it. (If you’re serious, purchase it; it’s worth it!)

Q. What process did you follow to create the ebook and sales letter within 72 hours?

A.  I modeled an ebook that was already out there with the author's permission and offered him 50% of the profits, which he declined.

Q. What is the difference promoting via ClickBank vs. pay-per-click advertising?

A. They are two entirely different things. You can get on ClickBank for a one-time fee and then it doesn't cost you anything. It's only for digital products and they control the price you can charge and the length of the guarantee. They send out the checks and handle everything for you. But it's not as easy as it looks. You have to work it!

You should promote your product through your own affiliate link on ClickBank so it looks like there is interest. Otherwise, you won't get any traction on ClickBank.

Pay per click is a totally different animal.  If you don't know what you are doing, you can waste a lot of money.  But the good thing is that you can start getting clicks and potential sales within 15 minutes of getting started.

 However, you must have your own affiliate program.  (The one I recommend is http://snipurl.com/splashmarketing if you're just getting started. If you making full-time income online go to Infusionsoft http://tinyurl.com/infusionsoftpower-you can automate a lot more with it but it's more expensive.)  

Either way, yyou must send your own checks out at the end of the month.  However, you can sell digital products, physical products, and services, because you control it.
